Steve Angello -- Tivoli (Phat sWaZy’s dub with love)
I’ve been hording this lil mix of mine for a lil while right now. It’s my remix for a worldwide competition held by Steve Angello’s label Size Records. I feel that this is probably one of my more involved and whole remixes I’ve done to date. Any comments or feedback are appreciated.
SHOOPS has been planning on sampling The Cardigans’One-Hit-Wonder“Love/Fool” for a while now, and it’s about time they release their thunder onto the blogworld. Are you ready for it? Take a deep breath, exhale slowly, and download the last track of this summer’s Free.99 myspace promotion. Just to refresh your memory a tiny bit, SHOOPS is a duo based in Montreal, that could be described as blending frequencies from both ends of the scale (Love/Lust). Take John Mayer, Kanye West, Crystal Castles, Lady Gaga and all the other hit makers and put them all in one blender, you will result with the best mixed juice in town.
SHOOPS is also planning on taking over Montreal this Fall with a low-key promotional tour and working on the official release of “Disco Show” featuring Mic Life who has just been released from jail. Keep your eyes and ears pealed, you won’t regret it!
Kye Gibbon aka Foamo is a 22 year old DJ/producer from High Wycombe, UK.
Foamo has played all over the UK and Europe, and has toured Australia, America & Canada.
He has also performed mixes on BBC Radio 1 and Kiss FM and other european stations.
his productions and remixes have been supported by many DJs such as MSTRKRFT, Armand Van Helden, Kissy Sell Out, Annie Mac, Rob Da Bank, PeteTong, DJ Zinc, DJ Craze, Bloody Beetroots, Crookers, Drop The Lime, Utah Saints, Dave Spoon, Zinc, Lee Mortimer & many more…
Well well well, i’ve been waiting to get my hands on some ill shit before I posted this week… good things come to those who wait… Foamo has been posted by my fellow 83 brothers, so it should come as no surprise that he has dropped another dumb track, and I say that with love. Laidback Luke & Diplo recently put out a banger called Hey!, with remixes out by numerous names, this is the one that stayed with me. I also posted some other soon to be club floor killers … enjoy…sWaZy out..
There have been many different reviews on the latest album from the Toronto based electro duo MSTRKRFT. Billboard said “The combination of old-school melody and post-mod dissonance is risky, bold, and one of the most exciting releases of the year so far.”, while PopMatters was less impressed saying “In a genre filled with faceless artists, MSTRKRFT only manage to stand out by being exceptionally faceless.” While RollingStone met them in the middle comically saying “MSTRKRFT keep things bouncing, but they never match Daft Punk or Justice on the hook or cleverness quotient. They’re like those drunk, loud dudes at a party: They’re having a good time, but you might not be.” – One thing that I enjoyed out of this album is the remixes that have been and continue to surface, the latest being Laidback Luke’s offering on Heartbreaker. It’s not 320kbps, ill update it as soon as I find it.
Also Steve Aoki (pictured above) is playing @ Tribe HyprerClub this Saturday, get your tickets here AOKI TICKETS who knows what kind of shenanigans he’s gonna be up to, should be a sick show.
Nujax (production duo comprised of Kid Legit & Girl Problems) have been making waves Montreal’s nightlife scene ever since the success of their award winning club night ‘Sextape Fridays’ at the Blue Dog Motel playing alongside international talents like Cobra Krames, DJ Grandtheft, DJ A-Rock, Danny Daze and My!Gay!Husband!.
Having built a strong local following Nujax is beginning to release a debut set of tracks. Drawing from 90’s house, fidget and techno for inspiration each track is a banger that will have a crowd singing along and begging for more. Currently Nujax is preparing their first EP and planing a North American tour. More to follow on that soon.
It’s always a good day when Shoops drops a new track. My man Yuri hit me up yesterday to let me know they had released this little gem of a song ! the83s are big time supporters of the myspace.com/shoops movement ! Don’t sleep !
After the great “In for the kill” blog success, everybody and they mama’s was busting this track in their mixes. Now, La Roux does it again with a more “up-beat” track. Check it out folkies !
Probably the worst picture of Beyonce I could find ! Although I’m glad to see that some producers are digging deep for older pop tracks to remix, I never thought this jam was ever going to become an electronic hit.
Props to Laidback Luke on this one !
We love him, you love him, he probably loves us… but he’s chosen disco ! We at the83s were really disappointed when the Le Castle Vania gig was canceled last February at la SAT… Hopefully this tribute post will ignite the flame once again and make this great DJ come to MTL.
Drugs are good, Designer Drugs are better at remixing then you are. I’ve dedicated this post to them because I’ve been enjoying many of there songs lately. Nothing much to say, but I wish these guys would make it down to MTL. You be the judge after listening to these tracks !
