…Let the music play on… All Night Long…

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

Found this track last week while patiently waiting to go see Deadmau5 Live… Im gonna be honest … this is that shit … the type of shit us 83′ers get hyped about. The Mightyfools have resurected one of my all time favorites from the man who coined the term “Dancing on the Ceiling” Mr. Linoel Richie. This is an electro re-work of the classic and it get’s my nob as the sWaZy choice tune of the week…

BONUS:

I was kinda bored this morning so I put together a lil video to go with my mash-up so I could post it on YouTube without being one of those jerks who just places images on their videos (you knwo who you are). IT’s ghetto but its fabulous… Hope you enjoy it… sWaZy out..

Left my heart in Tokyo

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Jeremy Grey: Oh, that’s terrific! Why don’t you just feed me to the lions? Step on my head when I am drowning.

John Beckwith: What?

Jeremy Grey: What do you mean “what”? What a great friend. John. This is completely against the rules. You have a wedding and a reception to seal the deal. Period. There’s no overtime.

John Beckwith: No overtime. Yeah, well what about the Chang wedding three years ago. 2am, you drag me fifty miles to watch you and some chick play Mah-Jongg with her grandmother? In a retirement home.

Jeremy Grey: Completely different situation. She was a very, very family-oriented girl. And very into her grandmother.

John Beckwith: Yeah. Yeahhh

Jeremy Grey: That was my first Asian!

Our homegrown hero strikes again ! I always love when Hatchmatik puts his twist to a remix. I remember when Kanye put out “Love Lockdown” at some award show and Hatch basically dropped the remix hours later. LOVED IT!. If you want to catch Hatchmatik, he will be mixing it up this weekend at the Jamboree in Stoneham Qc,. or better yet, headlining for the UB Crowned after party on March 21st in Bromont!

Check it out

Kathy Dimond & CodeBreaker

Friday, September 19th, 2008

I’ve been feeling a little bit func-a-disco-licious lately and I’m really liking artist that remix old school disco vibe with new age electro pop. Check out London diva Kathy Diamond when she teams up with Milwaukee based electro-funk duo Codebreaker for a tuned-up and hard-hitting collaboration on hot new record label Disco Demolition Records.

Fire* – Codebreaker Feat. Kathy Diamond

PS, I started working on For You MixTape vol.3!!! Keep coming back for updates!

LCD Soundsystem…in Montreal…let’s celebrate!!

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

Yes ladies and gents, the excellent Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem) and James Murphy (DFA Records) will be in Montreal on Friday, at CODA, to celebrate with amazing indie techno and a special focus on disco. Yes, you’ve just read correctly: DISCO!!! It spawned all the way from the early 70s to the early 80s, created a lot of elephant pants, big hair, and started the funk, r&b and pop movements that created the amazing musical period known as the 1980s…which we are obvious fans here. Mr. Murphy produced a lot of music for LCD Soundsystem throughout the years so having him with Pat Mahoney will be phenomenal. Here is a list of the shops where you can get your hands on one of those (cheap…16$!!!) tickets for the Friday evening @ CODA:

MOOG AUDIO
: 3828 St-Laurent – 514.284.7434
OFF THE HOOK: 1021 Ste-Catherine Ouest – 514.499.1021
SPACE FB: 3632 St-Laurent – 514.282.1991
INDUSTRIE: 1024 Mont-Royal Est – 514.522.3870
ATOM HEART: 364-B Sherbrooke Est – 514.843.8484
NATION: 3875 St-Denis – 514.843.7000
OLDgOLD: 256 Mont-Royal Est – 514.509.1675

In the meantime, here is a cool remix of one of their songs off their 2007 album Sound of Silver. It’s very indie electro, NOT aggressive at all; I would venture to say it almost has a funky theme to it. Either way, I love it, and pick up the album if you like it.
