My man Neil aka Jouets aka VENGEANCE just hit us up with a brand new mixtape and track ! On the track you can taste the good old fashion Jouets synthesizer flavor blended with a mixture of old school french and english hip hop (B.I.G., 2Pac, Gangstarr, wu-tang, Psycho realm and supreme NTM)… Check it out, it’s hot right now.
I had been waiting for this moment for a very long time now. I saw Metallica in concert this week-end, and it was epic. The first time I saw them was at an outside venue, there were lots of people, I was far away, the sound was not great, an overall OK experience. This time, it was at the Bell Center and that meant a whole other level of entertainment quality. The guys played relentlessly throughout the 2+ hours of show, going back and forth between old and new songs, delivering just the right amount of new “Death Magnetic” songs with a massive dose of classics. I had never seen a crowd so pumped up for a show at the Bell Center and I don’t think I was ever as happy as seeing a band play in front of me. It was simply one of those special musical moments.
Now I just have to wait until Jay-Z on October 30th to relive that feeling again…
Once again NROTB pulls through with a new track! These guys simply don’t sleep… They followed up last weeks Montreal venue with a little east coast tour starting with the BEMF (Brooklyn electronic music festival) playing along side icons such as Designer Drugs. If these guys ever come to your town, don’t miss out and stay tuned to the83s.com for their latest work! Thanks again P.
For all the party people that weren’t there last night at the Golden Pub World Cup – No Helmet Party, I actually managed to record my DJ set. We always talk about recording our sets but in the heat of the moment we always forget. Luckily for me, I was opening the show so I wasn’t drunk yet ! For those of you that did come out, thanks for making it a great night !
Our buddies Alan and Justin from NUJAX just sent us these hot new tracks and asked if we could help them out by promoting them. It’s always a pleasure for us to help out local artist, plus we love these guys! Keep up the good work !
Having built a strong local following Nujax is beginning to release a debut set of tracks. Drawing from 90’s house, fidget and techno for inspiration each track is a banger that will have a crowd singing along and begging for more. Currently Nujax is preparing their first EP and planning a North American tour. More to follow on that soon.

Well believe it or not, Mr. Coach Bombay is speaking from the heart tonight. This is one of the most amazing, loungy, high as a kite songs you could ever find. It has so much energy in such a subdued way…I don’t quite know how to explain it. It’s one of the songs I found back in my early dabbles into electro back in 2002 or so. I found a whole bunch of songs with the same feel back then. Most of them have simply disappeared from my library (and my brain can only hold so many titles/artists) when a hard drive crash wiped out everything. It was a sad day…but today, I heard “Hayling” from FC Kahuna, a duo DJ/producers from the UK, in a CSI: Miami episode (I know…the Vegas version is better…but I just so happen to watch Miami tonight). And with the magic touch of the interwebs, here it is ladies and gents for you to enjoy.
For some reason, I hate club music.. Not electronic club music, just cheesy Latino fist pumping summer music. When I was on vacation, that’s all we heard, so I decided to throw a little mixtape together as a joke to kick off the summer ! Feel free to download, take off your shirt and pump that fist in the air !
Some of our regular viewers might of noticed a little slow down in the past week, well it turns out I was in Cuba for a week… Let me tell you… NOT relaxing at all… Another thing I noticed about Cuba, I think they’ve recently discovered the song Calabria. So to celebrate the fact that I’ve heard this song 100 times in the past week, here’s my own way to tribute to this great master piece.
PS: Next time you’re shirtless dancing like there’s nobody else around in a club, chain smoking menthol’s and pumping your fist in the air yelling out “Cuba Games”… Think of us
La vieille école…old school…it’s where it’s at!!! Until the battle ends in tears anyways. Yes…it’s on, the heat is on, everything is on when you read the83s.com. I found those two different remixes of a the song “Shotgun”, originally by JR. Walker & The All Stars (they don’t make glorious band names like those anymore). One of them I found a while ago on “White Folks Get Crunk” and the other one I found very recently is off “Motown Remixed“, a great series of compilation done to revive Motown magic through remixes and re-edits. Check it out and buy the album, it’s well worth it.
