Black & Blue

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Tiga is back at it again, remixing Miike Snow’s latest single titled ‘Black & Blue’. Usually I see Tiga’s work as hit or miss, there isn’t much in-between I either love it or hate it – but this one is hype, full of energy and good sounds. Seeing how he’s somewhat of a hometown hero, I thought it be a good idea to get this out there for all of us Montrealer’s. The bonus cut today is a single off Deadmau5’s new album, it’s called FML (ill leave your imagination figure out what it stands for lol). Many people might not be down with this kinda sound from Deadmau5, especially if your only experience with the deceased Mau5 is what you hear or see on TV, but to me this is what made Deadmau5 the character he is today – it’s got mean drums and a tempo that will knock your socks off… I hope to hear this live tomorrow night @ the Met…

nrotb

Our friends NROTB just hit us up with their new killer remix of Amanda Blank’s “Might Like You Better”. Many are familiar with Amanda as the fiery vixen appearing alongside crowd and critical darlings Spankrock, and as part of the Philly-based pop group Sweatheart. Enlisting the help of uber-produers Diplo, Switch and XXXChange, Amanda Blank has made a record that is light years ahead of what anyone could’ve expected based on her guest appearances thus far.

Banger of the week right here !

Jayou has the Blue Magic and lots of bass!!

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

Jayou has dropped an enormous amount of bass on this “Blue Magic” track…and for the better. I love it. It makes me think of Timbaland in his studio with Jay-Z in that famous DVD. I don’t know… I could just see Jay-Z and Timbo losing it after hearing that song. It’s the same vibe…but with a more electronic feel to it. Bottom line: it’s a fist pumper in my opinion (btw, if you type fist pump in google pictures, this guy comes up. greatness). And we’ve put a little extra track in this post to make you guys feel good today. It sure made me feel good.

Sleeping at the wheel

Yes…it’s summertime…hence why I was a bit slow to post those next two songs. Alex Metric has been on a tear in Europe, especially in his native UK, where he is combining lots of different styles to create som every cool remixes. This remix of “One More Chance” by Bloc Party is a total summer banger. Who knows…you might end up drunk and lying close to these girls with this kind of beat blasting in your car.

SHOOPScandy1

SHOOPS has been planning on sampling The Cardigans’ One-Hit-Wonder “Love/Fool” for a while now, and it’s about time they release their thunder onto the blogworld. Are you ready for it?  Take a deep breath, exhale slowly, and download the last track of this summer’s Free.99 myspace promotion. Just to refresh your memory a tiny bit, SHOOPS is a duo based in Montreal, that could be described as blending frequencies from both ends of the scale (Love/Lust). Take John Mayer, Kanye West, Crystal Castles, Lady Gaga and all the other hit makers and put them all in one blender, you will result with the best mixed juice in town.

SHOOPS – Foolish (LoveFool Remix)

**BONUS**

On another note, we thought you might like this Amanda Blank remix they’ve been working on for the “Official Remix Contest” as well

SHOOPS is also planning on taking over Montreal this Fall with a low-key promotional tour and working on the official release of “Disco Show” featuring Mic Life who has just been released from jail. Keep your eyes and ears pealed, you won’t regret it!

Little Boots has big shoes to fill

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Well, you can’t say we were not ahead of the curve on that one. Little Boots is becoming quite the pop sensation lately. Her new release “Remedy” is doing very well and here is a fun remix done by Style of Eye. It’s a much more dramatic and intense version of the poppish song.

As a bonus…you can see her new video for the “Remedy” single.

I love house music

Friday, June 19th, 2009

I don’t know what it is today, but I was in a house mood (maybe the influence from our third man here on the blog, Mr. Swazzy). I was listening to some dusty Gabriel and Dresden beats this afternoon, and then decided to listen to some Paul Oakenfold remix of G&D. I had not listened to that stuff since my European trip in 2007…wow…did I forget how good “Dangerous Power” is. That song has some loud guitars, beautiful voices and just the perfect length. It’s such an amazing audio journey. As a bonus, I decided to post a chillout version of their big hit “As The Rush Comes” as well as a remixed version by Paul Oakenfold. I hope it starts your week-end in a good way…because I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while…Fake Blood with Cherry tonight @ Foufs!!!

United Nations delivered a hit!!!

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Oh today is a good day. You know a song is gonna kick some serious ass when N.A.S.A. does it, Lykke Li, Santigold and Kanye West are featured, and the whole thing is remixed by Treasure Fingers. Yes, you read that correctly. That’s a United Nations coordinated effort to create some serious beats.

Enjoy!!

Role Models

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

Sometimes words can’t explain actions.. In this case I chose to only post some of the best pictures in the world. Please note that this post is not music related at all.

Not gonna lie, the83s are now building a catapult to battle with these guys in the upcoming weeks.

Spaceship

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

You know that feeling you get when you score a new song and jam it on repeat a couple times? For this one, what can you expect, really? It’s Snob Scrilla teaming up with Australia’s finest production team, Bag Raiders , for a monster of a track. It seems that more and more tracks with rappers and electro producers are coming to life.

GOOD !
