There have been many different reviews on the latest album from the Toronto based electro duo MSTRKRFT. Billboard said “The combination of old-school melody and post-mod dissonance is risky, bold, and one of the most exciting releases of the year so far.”, while PopMatters was less impressed saying “In a genre filled with faceless artists, MSTRKRFT only manage to stand out by being exceptionally faceless.” While RollingStone met them in the middle comically saying “MSTRKRFT keep things bouncing, but they never match Daft Punk or Justice on the hook or cleverness quotient. They’re like those drunk, loud dudes at a party: They’re having a good time, but you might not be.” - One thing that I enjoyed out of this album is the remixes that have been and continue to surface, the latest being Laidback Luke’s offering on Heartbreaker. It’s not 320kbps, ill update it as soon as I find it.
Also Steve Aoki (pictured above) is playing @ Tribe HyprerClub this Saturday, get your tickets here AOKI TICKETS who knows what kind of shenanigans he’s gonna be up to, should be a sick show.

It’s been a hell of a week this week. Between the first ever 83s party last Saturday and Canada day yesterday, I haven’t been able to regroup and recharge my batteries… Tonight the83s will be at Club Saphir for Mary Hells weekly event “Beat me Up Thursdays” W/ special guest A-Rock ! Not gonna lie, I’m looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow… As for the blog entries, I’m going to be away for the weekend so I figured I would leave you guys with a couple bangers! Did you just say PAAAWW!?
Who knew that Oklahoma City was busy releasing the biggest bangers? Kids at the Bar have been busy remixing and chopping and tweaking to craft tunes that sound as wide as the ever expansive midwest. I like everything they have done, so here is a taste of a few of their remixes from some of our favorite bands here.
Well it’s July 1st, people everywhere are moving to new locations, the summer is starting up and the pictures from last weeks party are rolling in. Here’s a nice new track from a Canadian producer named Deadmau5 (incase you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple years). This is a new take on his hit Ghosts & Stuff…enjoy

Michele Balduzzi (aka Phonat) is rapidly becoming one of the most respected dance producers in the UK. Originally from Florence, Italy. Michele armed only with a 5 year old computer, electric guitar and Ryan Air ticket dutifully relocated to London in late 2007. This ones for Crazy Swazy !
What’s crack-a-laking fellow 83er’s, this is your friendly neighborhood Crazy sWaZy and I just got up in Bromont, had some eats and bout to go for a lil swim…In about 7 hours this town will be turned upside down, as the83’s and Cherry Cola show them how we party. Here’s a couple heaters that will get your weekend rolling whereever you might be. Ill be spinning some craziness tonight…can’t wait…
Nujax (production duo comprised of Kid Legit & Girl Problems) have been making waves Montreal’s nightlife scene ever since the success of their award winning club night ‘Sextape Fridays’ at the Blue Dog Motel playing alongside international talents like Cobra Krames, DJ Grandtheft, DJ A-Rock, Danny Daze and My!Gay!Husband!.
Having built a strong local following Nujax is beginning to release a debut set of tracks. Drawing from 90’s house, fidget and techno for inspiration each track is a banger that will have a crowd singing along and begging for more. Currently Nujax is preparing their first EP and planing a North American tour. More to follow on that soon.
Everybody by now has heard about his passing… To say it came as a shock would be an understatement as I still at the writing of this post, have not even come close to digesting it… Today marks the end of an era of music, But I am not here to add to the gloom, my aim is to spread happiness, and with that in mind ive gathered some of my favorite songs by the man himself.. Thriller came out a couple of months before I was born, and combined with Prince, edged out my early year itunes play list…Anyone who reads this blog has probably jammed to Michael Jackson in their day… Tonight I will pay homage to him on the turntables… R.I.P MJ…
Apparently, according to multiple sources, Michael Jackson suffered a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. When the paramedics rushed to his villa, he was apparently not breathing. We are scared here at the83s.com, not gonna lie. He’s one of our favorite artists, and one the83s.com collaborators (being me) kinda was planning to go see his concert at the O2 stadium in London. We’ll keep you posted.
